I am eating candy at my desk. Christmas candy. It's not like I can keep it around and it's not like I can throw it away. So piece by piece, it will disappear, each with a renewed promise to be the last one.
I will eat this whole bag. I know it.
If you want some, drop by my office and have a piece or two. My motorcycle suspension will appreciate it.

Ain't Dead Yet ain't dead yet.
Work progresses on my novel AIN'T DEAD YET. I hope to have it ready by May or June. It's follow up, CURSING BLACK'S TRAIL in November/December.
Blue Christmas
I am writing this after Christmas. I am struggling. The weight of the rejection of my kids is heavy on my shoulders. I am saddened by the inability on my part to gain the opportunity to reach out to them in a way that maybe they can start to understand the why's. But more importantly, how much I love them and miss them. At times, it is more than I can bear.

New Book Cover, still in process of publishing
In following the advice of a respected person, Guy Kawasaki, I did not wait for a great cover to publish my book. But my brother has helped me from myself and gave me a cover that better reflects the ,ah hem, excellent writing of the book beyond the cover. Methinks I like it.

Five Ticks
Five ticks, twelve times a minute, the second hand advances.
Either with a steady eye on watch or momentary glances.
So also does my heart; I know not the number each minute.
Counting down the beats of life, no matter the deeds within
it

Twice the Christmas Available
It is done. My Christmas story, Twice the Christmas, started in concept two years ago, written last year, is finally finished and available on Kindle downloads.
I am very happy with the way the story unfolded and in the weird way that writing works for me, I came away from it, having learned from the characters. I hadn't really thought of Christmas quite like that. Yet, somewhere inside I must have.

Zig Ziglar
"You can have anything you want in life, if you help enough other people get what they want." Or something close to that. -Zig Ziglar.
Thanks for the inspiration and the sound of reason during a time I search for some. The world was a better place with you in it and it dimmed just a bit when you left.

About Half Way
The march towards releasing my Christmas story, Twice the Christmas, progresses a little each day. It's a fun finale and I am excited to get to the end but loving this last review.
The main character, 11 year old Riley Thomas, is such a little kid. He's an amalgamation of so many little boys that I have known thoughout my life, including my own boys. He really doesn't reflect one individual.
In writing his character, I see him every day. I hear him and I know what he thinks. He's a great kid. I hope as you read Twice the Christmas, you'll get to enjoy him as much as I do. I wonder if you'll recognize him from a little boy that you know or knew. I would love to hear about it.
Tick, tock...

Working Hard
I've been working hard the past few weeks to get an original Christmas story edited and final touches added to make it available on Kindle.
It has been a year in the making and I am really excited to finally share it. I'll keep you updated but my target is this weekend (First of December).
The working Title is "Twice the Christmas". I'll post more about the story over this next week.
Got to get back to work. Later.

Bagging the Bucket List
I'm really tired of hearing about bucket lists and people working on them.
Just go live your life, don't feel the need to make the process Holy.

Survey This
As I mentioned earlier on Twitter, I do not do surveys.
Please take the time to fill out my survey, however, because my reasons for bugging you must far outweigh anything you might be doing or any objection that you might have.

An entire frickin' year?
Actually a little bit over a year.
Actually a few months over a year.
That is since I last posted on this blog. A lot has happened and quite frankly, it would be great fro a daytime soap (in reality, no it wouldn't), but for my life- it was one of times that a Blog was not something with which I needed to be keeping up. My life kept me running and was tough enough.
I am back, however, to living day-to-day and thus, its time to re-kindle the blogging spirit. I hope it's as good for you as it is for me.
Welcome back, mike. If I say so myself.
